First Annual Western District Banquet
“Inspired By The Gospel To Serve Others”
The St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) Diocesan Council of Shreveport invites you to our 1st Annual Banquet, hosted by the Western District of St. Vincent de Paul, on September 10, 2015 at St. Vincent’s Hall at Loyola College Prep. The banquet is intended to raise awareness of the Society and our service in Shreveport-Bossier City and across the entire Diocese, as well as raise funds in order to continue our service to those in need in our communities.
A couple of noteworthy facts: The St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Shreveport ranks 4th nationally in terms of the percentage of church Parishes that have active conferences. In addition, Catholic Digest ranked St. Vincent de Paul Number 1 as one of “The Top Five Charities You Should Know About”.
We hope you can join us, Bishop Michael Duca and Master of Cermonies Fr. Peter Mangum at the Banquet on September 10, 2015. This will be a great opportunity to spend an evening with Bishop Duca and learn more about the works of The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Our keynote speaker is Ralph Middlecamp. Mr. Middlecamp is one of five members of the International Commission of the Council General for the canonization of Blessed Frederic Ozanam, the founder of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He is a national Vincentian speaker and serves as the Executive Director of the SVDP Council in Madison, Wisconsin. As a spiritually committed man of service, he will inspire us to search in our hearts the desire to serve others.
Each Banquet attendee will receive a SVDP key chain that has been blessed by Pope Francis. Additionally, there will be limited edition holy cards available depicting the beautiful portrait of St. Vincent de Paul that is located at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans.
The Banquet is co-chaired by Bernadette Boyd and Dotye Stanford and the St. Vincent de Paul Diocesan Council of Shreveport would like to thank them both along with all the Banquet committee members for their service in hosting this event. Bernadette states “As Co-Chair of the Banquet, I am blessed to be working with the spiritually committed men and women of SVDP. They have each inspired me to be more compassionate in serving others in our community.”
